Tanner and Sara's small plane crashes into the Siberian wilderness...

...and that's just the beginning of their trouble.

An old enemy of both Tanner and Sara wants them dead, along with a team of mercenaries and dozens of hardened killers.
If that wasn't enough, Tanner must also protect the life of an innocent and deal with a blizzard.

The odds are stacked against them, but this is Tanner, and not even the wilds of Siberia can conquer him.

White Hell A Tanner Novel Book 17 edition by Remington Kane Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I gave this 3 stars but could easily give it 3.5 because there's so much action. When I started the book I didn't think I would give it much of my time because of the poor quality of writing. The story line is also not very plausible. Way too many situations that would seem impossible and a lead character that is superhuman. Having said that, I couldn't put it down. The writer keeps the reader wanting more. He also did a good job of weaving the characters to fit the story. I would like to give it a better review but the writing doesn't warrant it, considering the number of good books out there worth a 4 and the number of great books worth a 5! This book is like a train wreck - not a good thing but difficult to look away.

White Hell A Tanner Novel Book 17 edition by Remington Kane Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

The story/writing is pretty weak, so much so that I nearly deleted this book from my after only twenty pages or so. The prose is bland and characters, paper thin. However, there is a certain charm/appeal in the abundance of action present on nearly every page. This explains the other shortcomings of this book there is simply no room for depth when the author is trying to cram so much action into one book. In the end, it is an enjoyable read, like a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie or other such guilty pleasure you don't admit to enjoying -- and probably won't remember having read the following week.
In this KU library read, Tanner and Sara are taking some down time when the private plane they are on is shot down over a frozen lake in Siberia. This begins a chain of events that has them trekking across the frozen forest toward civilization as they are pursued by several unrelated teams of mercenaries and revolutionaries. It's an exciting read full of non-stop action. I can't wait to get into book 18.
The least enjoyable book I've read in years. I suspect it was written for a teenage audience; certainly, the writing is barely at a grade 6 level. The plot is mostly gun fights and pathetically gory scenes. The plot is entirely predictable and therefore boring. Don't waste your money unless you enjoy mindless plots, tedious gun fights, and implausible heroics.
Much less complex plot than other Tanner novels and lacks page-turning excitement.
This book was named correctly (White Hell). While escaping from a crashed plane in Siberia on a frozen lake, with a snow storm coming Tanner & Sara realize a old enemy is after them. Meanwhile they get involved in protecting a young kidnapped girl. This book is a good read but almost predictable.
White Hell starts off pretty exciting with Tanner and Sara's plane getting shot down over a frozen lake in Siberia. Then they try getting out of there alive, in a snow storm, with groups of men after them. The writing is vivid but violent with lots of murders. There is a twist to this story where the pair rescue Polina, a 14-year-old Russian girl, who had been kidnapped. Then we see a different side to Tanner. Not the cold, unemotional assassin but a kind and considerate man. We also learn a bit about his childhood. Some of the men who are after them want the girl back, adding to the problem of getting home alive.

I liked the idea of this book but, for me, there were just too many villains to keep straight. They were all after this pair for different reasons but were all in the same place at the same time. Now Tanner and Sara were great. They were 'good guys' and just about everybody else were 'bad guys' chasing them.

I liked Tanner but I didn't find him believable. He was like a superhero. He could sneak up on anybody and kill them without them knowing he was close.

My rating for this book is 2.5 stars. While it wasn't for me, if you like stories with mercenaries and killers, you will like White Hell.
White Hell reads very well as a standalone, even though it is Tanner's 17 adventure. (There are even more installments now since the book was published last year!) I think I say that partially to forgive myself for coming into yet another good series mid-stream. Based on what Tanner & Co go through in this book, I have to read the others now to see what else is in his past ... and how he makes it out of each book alive.

In the first paragraph, an old enemy of both Tanner and Sara has hired a hit squad to crash the plane in which our duo are traveling. With the pilot dead, their plane partially submerged and four swaggering combatants taunting them from far away, things look bleak for our heroes. A few minutes later, the four combatants are dead and their chopper pilot is getting the you-know-what out of Dodge. So how did he do it? Swam (sans clothing) under the ice (of a S.i.b.e.r.i.a.n. lake), comes up behind this first set of bad guys. That's how.

On their way back toward civilization (they are so far out there is no cell service!), they come upon a second group of criminals who have kidnapped the grand-daughter of a Russian politician. Even though he is a world-infamous assassin, Tanner cannot take credit for all of the deaths though. Some of the opponents kill each other, a couple are dispatched by one really ticked-off wolf (some graphic descriptions there), and others by the cold or their own insanity.

The ladies held their ends up as well. Sara, of course, had skills of her own, but seriously injured her knee in the initial plane crash, making it harder and harder to go on. Polina (the ex-kidnapped grand-daughter) was in her Girl Scout uniform when she was taken. Why is this important? Because when they had to build a shelter out of snow...she knew how to help! She also walked away from the wolf who had previously killed at least two of the bad guys. And, when it came to the last baddie standing, she got herself out of that mess! (I wonder if it's too late to sign my daughter up for Girl Scouts!)

Fans of Bond-James Bond will become fans of Tanner. (I believe I like Tanner even a little more. He's less pretentious than Bond, more direct and has been knocked around by life enough to roughen his edges a little.) White Hell has a lot of action, a lot of moments you want to shout, 'Look out behind you!", and a lot of dead bad guys at the end.
